"...the intriguing and humble new Red Onion [Records & Books], a books and music place tucked into a basement on the corner of 18th and T...judging by the boxes piled high within, owner Josh Harkavy is just getting started. At the very least, it stems the recent tide of record store closures in the city."

"Yet another place I can rely upon to score decently priced disco 12″s and other delicious vinyl treats. Josh, the owner, is making an awesome, defiant and noble stand against the current trend of record shops closing in the city. They also have a decent selection of used books too."

"It's like a college DJ's basement bachelor pad, except tidy and well-lit...By the window are soft reading chairs and a Welcome Back Kotter lunchbox (gotta love that).

Book/CD collections are eclectic (examples: Bob Dylan, Be Your Own Pet, the Cure, the Shins, Nick Hornby, big photography and Impressionism books, Lonely Planet travel guides ...) The books I bought there were reasonably priced and in excellent condition.

We recently got a record player, so my husband enjoyed browsing the large vinyl selection. So fun to check out vintage album covers! He was tempted by a New Order 12".

I am so happy to have a used record store in the neighborhood. We'll be back."
